Art as Cognition: CONVERSATION EVENT @ Los Limones with Resident Philosopher Mark Lekarew

  • Los Limones 1130 Halsey Street Brooklyn, NY, 11207 United States (map)

PRESS RELEASE:

Our 'Art as Cognition' project returns in 2019!

What does art mean to you? How is it that art gives us knowledge about the world?

Our first talkPOPc of 2019 will meet at Los Limones (1330 Halsey St. - Corner of Irving Ave) from 4-6pm.

We’ve been working these past few months to ensure we can hold conversations in spaces that are synonymous with New York life: bodegas. Joining us will be Resident Philosopher, Mark Lekarew, holding one-to-one conversations on our 'Art as Cognition' series asks: "What do you get out of music?"

Andrey and John, our audio and visual team, will also be capturing recording and photos of the evening's gathering.

talkPOPc creates inspired insights for people through one-to-one conversations with philosophers. By situating talkPOPc events in diverse national and international locales, talkPOPc strives to give people a chance to develop their own thoughts on particular topics. It provides a fun activity that aims to build responsible citizenship and full humanness through therapeutic self-awareness.

”talkPOPc: because change happens because people talk.”

Bringing public philosophy even further into the real world, talkPOPc set up shop in bodegas around Brooklyn. Customers, after buying their ham sandwich or Italian sub, would be invited by Resident Philosopher Mark Lekarew, Philosophy, St. Johns University to “Sit down and have a philosophical conversation on Art as Cognition!”

Positioned next to the sandwich counter, in the midst of Bushwick Brooklyn’s frenetic hustle and bustle, participants would reflect on their experience of art, music, and poetry, and the consequences to their lives which were then recorded as episodes for the talkPOPc Podcast
